For these studies it is of utmost importance that the MRS measurements are extremely reproducible, in order for any small deviation from the baseline to be associated with the effect of the disease or drug. Literature documents factors contributing to the measurement variability, such as biological variation or voxel repositioning [3]. Since any quantitative MRS measurement involves curve fitting for the determination of metabolite concentration, it has usually been assumed that the (limited) SNR of a spectrum is also contributing to the overall variability [4]. We present here the results of a study designed to help understand the impact of the SNR on MRS data reproducibility.

بررسی تأثیر عفونت حاد گوش میانی بر گسیل های صوتی گوشی گذرا ؛ راهنمای بالینی جهت آگاهی از سیر درمان بیماری

Introduction & Objective: Acute otitis media (AOM) is the most common causes of acquired hearing loss in children with increasing incidence. In young children the diagnosis is restricted to otoscopy and tympanometry whereas evaluation of the auditory function is impossible due to noncompliance during pure tone audiometry. For this purpose, measurement of otoacoustic emissions, especially tran...

Reproducibility of 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance spectroscopy for measuring hepatic fat content.

PURPOSE To investigate reproducibility of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS) to measure hepatic triglyceride content (HTGC). MATERIALS AND METHODS In 24 subjects, HTGC was evaluated using (1)H-MRS at 3.0 Tesla. We studied "between-weeks" reproducibility and reproducibility of (1)H-MRS in subjects with fatty liver. We also studied within liver variability and within day reproduc...

Assessment of Reproducibility of Geometric Distortion in MRI using Phantom Measurements

Introduction:  Image  distortion  is  one  of  the  major  problems  of  magnetic  resonance  imaging  (MRI) for use in 3DMRI, velocity MRI, FMRI and radiotherapy treatment planning (RTTP). It is  widely known that the most obvious effect of the inhomogenity of the magnetic fields and the  nonlinearity  of  the  gradient  is  the  Geometric  Distortion  of  MR  tomograms.  In  this  study,  the...

Reproducibility of single- and multi-voxel 1H MRS measurements of intramyocellular lipid in overweight and lean subjects under conditions of controlled dietary calorie and fat intake.

The reproducibility of repeated single-voxel 1H MRS (SV-MRS) and spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) measurements of intramyocellular lipid (IMCL) in the tibialis anterior muscle of five lean and five overweight female Caucasians, during 7 days of controlled dietary fat and calorie intake, was assessed at 1.5 T. Duplicate measures of IMCL relative to total muscle creatine (IMCL/tCr) obtained 3 days ap...
